Worldview Academy Camp (And The AMAZING Time I Had There)

I left for the Worldview Academy Camp on June 9th, and returned on the 14th. I can’t begin to tell you how amazing it was.

My parents are pretty protective with the whole camp-thing and I hadn’t ever been to a camp before this year, when I went to Worldview. So when I approached my parents with the request to go to Worldview in June, I was shocked when they actually said that it was a great idea.

Even though I got the thumbs-up from my parents in January (3 whole months away from the actual month I was to leave), I was so ecstatic and wanted to pack my bags and begin my adventure right away!

Well, I unfortunately had to wait a couple of months, but Worldview was so worth the waiting and anticipation.

But first, before I start to tell you about my adventure, I’ll mention two friends from my homeschool co-op that got me wanting to go in the first place – Clayton and Micah. They told me all about it and got me wanting to go, so all the thanks to them. Thanks, guys! You’re the best. 😀

Now on to my little adventure, since I’m sure that I’m boring you with what I’ve already said.

At the campus

The camp took place at the Oklahoma Wesleyan University campus. The students stay in the dorms and the lectures, free time and worship also take place at the campus.

My small group

Once I got there, I was met by an extremely excited staff, who took my bags and took them to my dorm, so that I would be able to go through registration. At registration, you are asked to turn in any electronic devices you may have. They keep them safe for the time that you are at camp, and are returned to you at the end of camp. It really makes you be able to connect more with the people around you and with God.

The average day at Worldview consisted of you getting up at 7:30, having your quiet time at 8:00, and eating breakfast at 8:30.

Quiet times. I’m in the background. 🙂

You then go to a couple of lectures until 12 o’clock, with 10 minute transitions in between.

The lectures were absolutely amazing and I learned SO much from them!!

We had a free time in the afternoon which consisted of volleyball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, hanging out and more!

On Wednesday, we had evangelizing, which was so awesome! I had never actually evangelized to people before, so it was a new experience for me. We went out in groups of three and would find random people on the streets to ask questions that we were assigned to ask. It was an amazing experience and one of the highlights of my week at Worldview!

On Thursday, we had the relays and they were amazing!! I was on the blue team (which has won 2 years before in a row), and we all had a great time!

GUESS WHAT??

BLUE TEAM WON!!!

Overall, I had an absolutely AMAZING experience at Worldview and am planning on going back next year. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to grow in their desire to serve the Lord and to grow as a leader.

Cheers!

  1. Sounds super cool! (I was trying to see if I recognized any of the students XD) Also I totally understand if it would be too personal to ask but, what homeschool co-op are you in?

    1. I think it was equal amounts. 🙂 I learned an extreme amount about different worldviews, how to talk to people with those worldviews, viewing the media around me through God’s eyes, how to be a leader worth following, and a ton more. Plus I made new friends and had fun. So yeah, I’d say equal amounts of both. 🙂

      1. I have to. You’re my only friend bold enough to post a picture of yourself about to bust your rear end on monkey bars.
