Hey y’all!!

Time for a post where I catch up on all my awards which I have been nominated for. Thanks so much to everyone who nominated me; y’all are awesome!! And I am so sorry that I have not gotten this done sooner…please forgive me for taking forever.

1 Grateful Person Award

I have been nominated by Elisha at http://africaboy.home.blog for the 1 Grateful Person award which was created by Jesusluvsall. Make sure to check both of these guys’ amazing blogs out; you will NOT regret it!! (You’ll wish you had found them out sooner. 😉 )

INTRO: This tag is based on Luke 19, the tale of the ten lepers. In the story, Jesus heals ten men with leprosy, a terrible disease that removes your capacity for pain reception. Sadly, only one of the ten healed men came back to thank Jesus, and it is after this man that we aspire. Let’s be like the one leper, a man who’s gratefulness won over his joy.

Rules for this award are:

1: Use any picture in your post that expresses gratitude

2: Pingback to the original post at 1 Grateful Person

3. Share the intro

4: Share what you are grateful to Jesus for

5: Share a passage from the bible about gratitude that means something to you.

6: Tag anybody

Let’s get right down to what this tag is all about…gratefulness.

I am honestly grateful to God for so much; I can’t begin to describe how thankful I am. If I were to even try to, it would last for a very long time and y’all would get tired of reading it after awhile. So, I’ll go with the basics…

I am most grateful that God created me, and that He sent His Son to die on the cross for me. Without either of those, I’d either (1) not be in existence, or (2) have no reason to live. I’ve got both, and thank God for that!

I am so grateful to God the religious freedom which I have, in America. I can freely read my Bible and go to church, and for that, I am so thankful to God for.

I am also exceedingly grateful for my family and friends I have. There are so many amazing people around me who I am constantly learning from and it’s such a blessing to have God-honoring people around me.

A Bible verse that really stands out to me in regards to gratefulness is:

Psalm 107:1 1Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

It’s really simple, but really deep. God is SO good and SO loving, and there’s no reason why we SHOULDN’T give thanks to Him. He’s such an awesome God!!

Share Your Passion Award

I was nominated for this award by Jesusluvsall. This blog is so amazing, definitely check it out!!

Rules:

  1. Repost the #ShareYourPassion logo (above) on your acceptance post.
  2. Tag the blogger’s site that nominated you.
  3. Share a bit about your passion(s): Hobbies outside of blogging that keep you busy in your free time. What would you like to accomplish with these things? How could you use your passion(s) to be a blessing to others and show them the love of God?
  4. Nominate ten other bloggers and spread the joy!

Let’s see…what do I like to do outside of blogging…

Well, I obviously love to write. I’m working on a historical-fiction novel at the moment, based on the life of Esther, and the events surrounding her, so that’s been challenging, yet lots of fun! My goal is to get this book finished and publish it within the next year. I really hope that it brings to light some things in this time period that others don’t know about.

I also love photography. I’ve done several photo sessions with families, but my goal is, in the next five years, to be a professional photographer, and to have a business. I hope that my being able to capture the joy of others would give joy to the people around me. ❤

This is a fantastic award; definitely one of my favorites. Here’s the people who I nominate (I can’t do ten, so here’s just a couple):

Ezra at http://ezraseverythingspot.wordpress.com

Hero at http://sincerelyhero.home.blog

Lydia at http://inhisserviceandlovingit.wordpress.com

      1. Answering in character as Greg from 1995.

I skipped the grateful award questions because I didn’t really know Jesus that well in 1995, but I would say I’m grateful to live in a country where the people have freedom and a voice.

And I just noticed you didn’t ask 11 new questions for Sunshine; I was halfway answering Lydia’s questions when I realized I was doing this wrong, so I’ll just keep doing that.

What is your job or what is your dream job?
I always used to think it was to make video games. But things in the world of computing change so fast, and my family can’t afford to always have the latest computers, and now that I’m at UJ and I see how stressed all of my computer science major friends are, I don’t think I want that anymore. I guess I’ll just stay in school forever and be a math professor.

What’s one of your least favorite foods and why?
Dill pickles. I don’t know why. I just don’t find the taste appealing. I like sweet pickles, though, and apparently I’m learning that is the opposite of most people I know.

What time of day do you like to write a blog post?
It’s 1995. I don’t know what a blog post is. But I write emails and post on Usenet in the evening when I’m not in class.

Who or what inspires you the most in life?
Good question. People who do the right thing and don’t act stupid, I guess.

What has been the most exciting thing that ever happened to you?
Last year, as a senior in high school, my class did a skit based on the TV show Beavis and Butthead. I played Butthead. I had never gotten up in front of a crowd before and performed in my life (well, I had a few piano recitals in childhood, but that’s different, and I haven’t played piano since I was about 10), and to be able to do that, especially playing such a silly character, felt freeing.

Would you rather eat fried baloney or slimy spinach leaves?
No, I wouldn’t. Probably fried bologna, though, and I’d spell it right. 😛

Which describes you better? Giant jokester or super shy?
        Both.

What’s your favorite type of blog posts to read?
Again, 1995, N/A. My favorite emails are messages from friends, and my favorite Usenet group right now is the one about Pink Floyd, because there’s this weird conspiracy theory thing happening where someone with connections to the band says that there is a secret message in their lyrics, and some people think they’ve contacted aliens and stuff.

        Do you like spicy foods?
A little spicy, but not extremely spicy.

        Can you jump rope?
Yes, but I haven’t in several years.

What one word can you use to describe the above questions asked?
        Fun.

        —–
Sharing a bit about my passions. I like to read. I like video games. I like to explore this quirky little city of Jeromeville on my bike. I like making friends online; that’s a new thing for me, because I never had a computer capable of that until last summer (it’s 1995, remember). I like math. And I’m also discovering I like to write. I’m not sure what I hope to accomplish… maybe I’ll be a great mathematician someday and discover something new that’s too hard to explain to people without math degrees.

        3 Things About Myself:
I once memorized pi to 60 decimal places.
I grew up around a lot of cats. We had up to five at one time.
My brother Mark and I made up a bunch of silly sports games, usually combining aspects of other sports and finding ways to play them one-on-one in the yard. He had all the athletic talent. I just like keeping stats, like who needed to beat whom to make the playoffs and how many points per game we had and stuff.

        Coffee or Tea?
No. I hate that I don’t like coffee, because it’s 1995 and all the cool kids hang out at coffee shops.

What is your all-time favorite quote?
“Government is not the solution to the problem. Government is the problem.” –Ronald Reagan
[I’m not sure if I had a favorite quote in 1995, but I know I had heard this quote at that time]

Would you eat a bowl of [dead] crickets for $20?
No. $2000, maybe, but not $20. I’m not that desperate.

Do you consider yourself to be a fast runner and if so, how fast? If not, how slow?
No. I hate running. I was never able to run the mile in under 9 1/2 minutes and I always had to stop and walk at least twice.

How do you feel towards insects in general?
I don’t really think much about insects.
