Striving After Wind…

Hey all!

Today, I wanted to write about something which I recently read from my Bible, and wanted to share.

I’ve been going throughout the Bible, and recently went through the book of Ecclesiastes. There are so many good things to learn from this fantastic book of the Bible and I highly encourage you go through it and read it. If you let yourself, you will gain knowledge from this book, which you didn’t yet have.

But now, onto what I wanted to share with y’all…

Ecclesiastes 2:24-26 (ESV):

“There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God, for apart from him who can eat or who can have enjoyment? For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given the business of gathering and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is a vanity and a striving after wind.”

The way that I view this verse, is as so:

We can live our entire lives working for, and reaping good things, only to later die, and all of our earnings go to someone seemingly unworthy of our toil. This is a striving after wind; it is vanity. Yet, if we live our lives for God and love those around us, we shall make a greater impact on the world, than if we had toiled our entire lives for great riches.

So, my encouragement to you this week is:

Let what you do, be worth your life. You’ve only got one life, so live it well.

Cheers!

  1. This is encouraging, Keziah!!! So true! As Christ-followers, everything that we do should bring God glory. We must allow Him to change our everything! He has loved us very greatly and has shown us a lot of grace. I mean, to the extent of sending His son to die on the cross for our sins, so that we wouldn’t have to pay them! With that being said, we should do things out of a love for God. Do not waste your life trying to gain the approval of others. Live your life to the fullest for God. ❤
