The Feminine Movement: My Thoughts

One could argue that the feminist movement started in the 19th century, but I personally think that, if we look at History, we see many other types of “feminist movements” happening.

Take Cleopatra, for example. I would argue that she was a feminist. Cleopatra used her body to seduce men, achieving the power she craved. She believed women should have just as much power as men, and she demonstrated this statement by doing just that.

The definition for “feminism” is:

“To define, establish, and achieve the political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes.”

Basically, then, feminism is the idea of creating a culture where men and women are equal in every way; politically, personally and socially.

So, we’ve looked at History. We’ve gone through the definition of ‘Feminism’. Now, we’re going to look at the Bible.

“Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time.” – Judges 4:4

“His daughter was Sheerah, who built both Lower and Upper Beth-horon, and Uzzen-sheerah.” – 1 Chronicles 7:24

There are more verses which I could include here, too, of women having power, in the Bible. However, there are some other verses which I think are of more importance, worth sharing:

Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.” – 1 Timothy 2:11-14

“Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. ” 1 Corinthians 11:9

Men were made to be the head of the family; the spiritual leaders of the family. Women were made to be their wives, being submissive, and a helper. That doesn’t mean women are of no importance. In fact, we are of huge importance. Women have the privilege of bearing children and walking alongside their husbands in their spiritual walk with God.

Our culture today says that to be a stay-at-home mom is for the faint-hearted; for the women who have no other inspiration in life, than to be at home. That may be how it is for a few, but a lot of times, women have dreams and goals in life, yet they know what God has chosen for their life, so they put the rest on hold, so that they might fulfill His plan.

A lot of feminists are also pro-abortion, which I have never understood. First of all, say you have an abortion on a woman who had conceived a little girl. How is that at all pro-women’s rights, when that soon-to-be woman, didn’t even have the right to breathe her first breath of oxygen? That’s wrong, and it’s inhumane.

Some people say that women should be the weaker vessel, and that’s fine to think that. I have personally always admired women who were physically strong, mostly because it’s a lot harder for women to gain muscle, rather than for men. So, even though I am against the whole feminine-movement in general, I do admire the physically-strong women out there.

To be feminine doesn’t mean “to be weak”. God created man and He created woman. They are two different types of people, both with specific guidelines laid out. We, as women, are called to be feminine, under God’s standards. We are called to live modest lives, to dress appropriately, be selfless towards others, and to honor God in all we do.

I hope this post has better encouraged any women out there, to live your lives for God. And men, honor the women around you. We’re all in this walk of life together, and we all have our God-ordained tasks to fill. Don’t look down on woman; lift them up in encouragement, and the same to women, with men.
