When No One Can Empathize

At times, we go through such a hard time in life. Or we just struggle in a certain area. The last thing we want, is for everyone to shut us out.

And yet, a lot of times we are shut out. People feel like they can’t empathize with you, so they feel awkward and would rather not do anything.

It is really sad. Why are we not willing to help those around us, when they are hurting? Why are we so selfish and centered on ourselves, that we aren’t even willing to reach out to someone else? Why are we holding back help, when it is cried out for?

It is because we care more about ourselves, than any other person. That is the main reason we sin. Because we want what we want, and are not willing to settle for anything else.

To fully empathize with those around us, we need to stop looking at ourselves and begin to look at what they are going through. We need to take off our shoes of life and put on those of the one suffering.

The more time you invest into others, the less time you will spend looking at yourself. And I cannot even begin to tell you what an amazing thing that is, to be able to accomplish.

Carpe Diem!

Side Note: I wrote this one late night, feeling as if God wanted me to. In the morning, I was faced with an issue of choosing whether to empathize with someone, or being upset with them… it was very humbling. Funny how God works like that, huh?

  1. I have really been struggling with a friend these past few weeks, and this is certainly a sign on what I can do for them.

  2. Great post. Especially for those of us who know other human beans. *every person on the face of the earth raises their hands* I’ll be thinking about this call to empathize when dealing with others in the coming weeks – thanks for this, Keziah! 🤗🌻
