Personal Faith + Testimony

I recently helped out at a VBS where the pastor asked us to share our testimony to the other youth leaders before VBS started. I had never done anything like this before, so I wrote mine out and have decided to share it with you all.

My Testimony

-Keziah                                                                                                                               July, 2019-

I became a Christian at the age of 8, when I realized the gravity of the weight of my sins and how much I needed Jesus to save me.

I went through a time in my life where I suffered from depression and felt like nobody loved or cared about me, when in reality, there was a lot of people around me that did. All I could see and think about was myself, and I failed to realize that there were people all around me that had gone through things I couldn’t even imagine and they needed someone to love them. I came out of suffering from depression with a stronger relationship with God and a knowledge that I needed to love those around me more than I had been.

I struggle a LOT with patience and having empathy for others, but God has been helping me with that. Sure, I most DEFINITELY still have a LOT to learn, but knowing that God has and will continue helping me overcome these is comforting.

A verse that has been a favorite recently is from 1 Corinthians 13:8 at the beginning, where it says, “Love never fails”. That has been really helpful to me, because oftentimes, I only think about myself and not anyone else, and I forget to love people. Or I’ll know that I need to love people, but I don’t want to, and I forget that I need to love EVERYBODY ALWAYS.

My Personal Faith (What I Believe)

A person’s personal Faith can be a touchy subject. But I believe that if someone is willing to believe something, then they ought not to be ashamed of it. Faith isn’t something people should be ashamed of, but rather something that people should be willing to give their life for.

Anyways, I’ll stop that little rant and start telling you what I believe. I know that some of you, if not many of you, will not believe the same as me, but please do not get angry if I believe differently than you. There’s enough drama over the internet these days, and I am merely stating what I believe for the purpose of anyone that is interested in knowing. If you’d like to state what to you believe, then please do so in the comments below, but not in a hateful manner, please. Thank you.

Salvation

I believe that Jesus Christ existed. I believe that He died on the cross for everyone’s sins and that, after being sealed in a tomb for three days, He rose again. I believe that He went back up to heaven and is waiting for all those that are faithful to Him.

  Baptism

I do not believe in Regeneration Baptism.

John 14:6 says, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

If Jesus had wanted people to baptize themselves for the sake of them going to heaven, then why would He have even died for us in the first place?

1 Timothy 2:5 states, “For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,”

That verse plainly states that there is ONE mediator between God and man, and that’s Jesus. Not being baptized.

I do believe, however, believe in Believer’s Baptism, which is when someone confesses that Jesus is their Christ and Savior, and they are then baptized. They are not baptized to gain salvation, but to show others that they are a Follower of Jesus Christ and are willing to take up His cross.

  Creation

I believe that the world was created in 6 days, and on the 7th day, God rested. I do not believe in Evolution, but firmly believe that God was the One that created the heavens and the earth and that He made mankind after His own image (see Genesis 1:27).

  After-Life

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, I believe that there is a Heaven and a Hell. I believe that those who believe that Jesus died on the cross for their sins shall be saved from eternal damnation and they will go to heaven. Those who do not believe this and forsake Jesus as their Lord and Savior will go to Hell, where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth (see Matthew 13:50).

All of this is what I, as a Christian, believe.

Cheers!

-Keziah ❤

  2. I do wonder about the verse that says we must be born of water and the blood. But I absolutely agree with you about everything else!

  3. Very well said! I couldn’t have explained it any better…and when you said that you believed in both Heaven and Hell, I was relieved! Why? Because others only believe in Heaven yet believes that Hell is nonexistent…you got a new follower because of that….sorry for the long comment!

    1. I felt comfortable sharing with you. Because I think you’re intelligent and mature.

I really wouldn’t mind you deleting it too. I’m comfortable with you but not anyone else.
