I personally believe that prayer is a necessity in the life of a Christian. It is the closest way most of us can get to talking to God and it is entirely and wholly a spiritual experience.
I used to tell people I would pray for them, and then either forget, or just whisper a quick, 2-second prayer as it crossed my mind. Which, isn’t necessarily a bad thing, to do so quickly. But it’s not as heartfelt, in my opinion.
God deserves all glory, honor and praise. To pray to Him, is to acknowledge Him as a Supreme Being, who is far worthy of our speaking to Him, and relinquishing our troubles and thoughts.
Too often, we get caught up in the “I Don’t Have Time To Pray” attitude. But that’s a lie. If you have time to read this right now, then you have time to pray. If you have time to go to bed, you can pray. Which, that phrase might sound ridiculous, but I often find myself praying to God as I fall asleep. And when I awake, I find myself praying right as I open my eyes. It’s amazing; almost as if I’ve been praying all night, and it’s totally ingrained into my head.
If you can make time to talk to your friends or family about what is going on in your life, then you have time to talk to God about it.
Where do you feel closest to God? For me, it is out in nature, among the tall oak trees, the loud cicadas, the blossoming flowers and the stunning, blue-cloudy celestial abode. I have had many spiritual experiences with God, out among nature, just praying and talking to Him.
If you can find where you feel a connection with God, then go there and pray deep. Pray hard and let it be heartfelt. Anyone can pray. It’s just like thinking a thought or saying it aloud. Just like talking to any other person. Except for one thing; the being listening this time, cares more than anyone else ever did, and He’s continually there for you.
What more can you ask for, in a deep friendship?!
So, friends. I challenge you this week: Make Prayer A Necessity In Your Life. You need it. I need it. We all need prayer to be a part of our daily lives. Let’s make it that way.
Carpe Diem!
