I have recently had a sort of “revelation” from God, while reading my Bible.
“Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.'”
-Romans 12:19
I can be really bad at beating myself up, when I do something wrong. I feel guilty and as a result, I feel the need to punish myself.
But we are not the judge.
God is the one who is superior and who judges us. We have absolutely no right to judge ourselves.
And that is just something I have felt God teaching me. Having Him whisper to me, “You did wrong, Keziah. But don’t beat yourself up for it. I still love you. I forgave you, years ago. Don’t let this define who you are. ”
Yes. We do wrong. But God has forgiven us. Yes. We should feel sorry for what we’ve done. Yes. We should repent for our sins. But we CANNOT let the sins define us. To let what we’ve done define us, is saying no to the forgiveness and hope Jesus offers to us.
So, my friend. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Stop giving in to the depression, anxiety and self-centeredness. I know it is hard. So very, very hard. But don’t give in. Let Jesus lead you.
Carpe Diem!
