Women Lust, Too.

Something I absolutely despise, is the notion that only men struggle with lust and looking at pornography.

It’s like society believes women are more perfect than we truly are. Nobody wants to speak up about this, because it’s humiliating….no woman wants to admit that she struggles with lust and sexual desires.

And yet, here I am. Speaking up about it.

This is hard for me to write….Some of you may not understand at all. Some of you may stop reading what I write, because of what I’m going to say. But I don’t care. This needs to be said. So, here I am.

I struggle, constantly on a daily basis, with lust and impure thoughts. I’ve struggled with this for years…ever since I was 9 or 10. I’ve always kept it rather hush-hush. I mean, I thought only guys struggled with this. I felt so sinful and dirty for thinking and wanting the things I did.

But, guess what? Lusting is a sin, just like anything else. It’s a sin like transgenderism is a sin. It’s a sin like stealing, or lying is a sin. It’s a sin, just like you being discontent with where God has you, or being jealous over what others have.

I wish so, so very much that people didn’t just expect guys to struggle with this problem. Because women do, too. It is a VERY real thing. I think one huge reason why women struggle with lusting and pornography so much, is because no one really expects them to. For some reason, it’s thought that women are stronger then men in this, and we “don’t have as strong of hormones”.

I’ll agree. Hormones and that extra testosterone do really play a big part in heightening the struggle against sexual sin. But it does not define it. You absolutely cannot use the excuse of “Oh, I’m a guy. I have more hormones than women, hence why I struggle more.”

Lusting and looking at pornography is just a plain, outright sin. It doesn’t matter who has more hormones. It matters how much you allow yourself to continue sinning in this area.

God has quite obviously called us to a life of purity and following after Him. And He offers strength to us. One of my very favorite Bible verses, is:

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.”

– 1 Corinthians 10:13

Don’t you see? Yes. It is SO hard when we are tempted in this way. But God doesn’t let us be tempted beyond what we can bear…This is so, very reassuring to me, because I know that, no matter HOW hard it might be, or how much I may struggle, it will never be beyond what I can bear. God will ALWAYS be there to help me with it.

So, friend. If you struggle with this, no matter what gender you are, God is with you. And you need to fight as hard as you possibly can, and not give in to the mortal wills of your body.

Something I have recently been learning to pray, is:

“God, help me to conquer myself.”

And this can be used so. much. in this area of struggling.

You need to CONSTANTLY pray to God. Ask Him to give you the strength to conquer your fleshly desires and to give in to HIS desires for you, and not your own.

And, you know what? EVEN if you don’t struggle in this area, don’t judge or look down on those that do. Because this is just another sin, and YOU SIN, TOO. So, do not judge those that are no worse or better off, than you yourself are. God is the supreme judge over us. We are merely called to love one another, forgiving constantly.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. It is something I have felt called to share. And, though not easy (and rather humiliating and humbling to write on), I KNOW that God can use what I’ve gone through, to help others. So, here I am. Telling you about it. God is still working on me and I am constantly learning to live wholly for HIM, giving into Him, and not myself. It’s a constant battle, but oh, SO worth it!!

You can reach out to me via my contact page, to talk more about this privately, or to ask advice with this issue. I would absolutely love to talk this out with you.

Stay strong, my friends. It’s a battle worth fighting.

Carpe Diem!

  2. Ahh, This was such a wonderful post, Keziah! I know it was probably hard to write. And you are right. I know from personal experience because I used to struggle (and still do at times) with this sin. You gave wonderful thoughts and I appreciate them! I especially love that prayer. “God, help me to conquer myself.” So powerful!

  3. I think my love for your blog and the content you put out here just skyrocketed. You’re so amazing.

And yes, women do struggle with lust too! But this is our very confidence that God won’t allow us be tested beyond our capacity and that He gives us grace to boast in our weaknesses, glorifying His name the more.

  4. Thank you so much for sharing and writing this, Keziah. So true. I often find myself struggling with it all as well. It’s a dark world out there, and we’re so sinful.. and it’s so easy to let ourselves get swept into the darkness. Good thing we do serve a good and mighty and patient and loving and merciful God, though, who understands and forgives and won’t let us be tempted beyond what we can stand. 🙂 Thank you so much for being brave enough to post this! I needed to see it right now!💚✝️

  6. Girl. Thank you so much for posting this. I used to have a real struggle with this too and, while the temptation is still there sometimes, God has definitely delivered me from that sin. Thanks so much for being open about this and for this inspiration to make others aware that this does happen and that they can be free. Your obedience is changing lives, sis ❤️

      1. You’re welcome K! These things aren’t easy to talk about. My testimony caused some people to unfollow me. But nobody is perfect.
